That is one spot we just beat out on the left side. We patched in the dog legs and a little bit at the edge of the windshield. My friend is pretty good, I was amazed when he beat that rear lower area out. Looks good!

He used very little as far as I can tell , I was pretty impressed. His brother is the mechanic and he said he gets a little OCD.

Thats what you want to hear about someone working on your car.

How long did your car take?

Well we did some stuff like the dogs legs first and just painted that bit below where you couldn’t really see it while his brother rebuilt the engine and we did all the important mechanical stuff. Then someone banged the back of my Z and legitimately bent the rear deck cross member, but thankfully missed the hatch. SO, insurance paid to restore the rear of the car and we decided it was time to do the rest of it. It was a good three years between getting it road ready and the rusty bits fixed to when it was really painted and totally fixed. One place we never painted was the engine bay but it’s a driver not a show car. The engine is pretty though. It had side trim too and he welded that all up too. It took a few weeks for sure, he did a lot.

Fi xing alot of its issues, driver door handle now works, hood release, shifter linkage, soiled carpets are being d yed, bents LCA is being replaced, new balljoints. It does run really poor but that bridge can get crossed at a later date, a long wi th the blown shocks and oem bumpers.

again, very nice patch.  due to the volume of rust on my project I will not be trying this hard.

Thanks, this is sort of my self proclaimed apprenticeship so I'm trying to do my best. Watching yours come together helps explain how larger repairs go

The fuel injection engines are a little more complex or easier depending on who you ask. A good tune up and new injectors is probably all it needs.

Its an fi engine that got dual carbs installed, im guessing bad fuel/supply and tune up.

Are they round top SU’s or some garbage Holly mash up?

Those are round top SU’s. That’s the best carb to have on the car.

This is what they should look like.

Want to come make some doglegs for the Chevelle this winter? I’m probably just buying patch panels for the other spots it’ll need but that area doesn’t exist in patch form because 4-door.
